HANGZHOU, China & HONG KONG — Hangzhou Diagens Biotech Co., Ltd. (“Diagens”) and the Hong Kong Hub of Obstetric and Paediatric Excellence (HOPE) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The partnership aims to drive innovative research on AI foundation models for medical imaging in obstetrics and paediatrics. By translating medical AI advancements into clinical applications, the collaboration seeks to further elevate the quality of diagnosis and treatment for maternal and paediatric health.

The MOU was co-signed by Dr. Song Ning, Founder of Diagens, Prof. Tak Yeung Leung, Co-Director of HOPE, Assistant Dean (Mainland Affairs) of the Faculty of Medicine, and Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, CUHK. This alliance integrates Diagens’ technological edge in artificial intelligence with HOPE’s robust clinical and scientific research platforms. The comprehensive collaboration encompasses academic research, specialized model training, clinical translation and validation, medical evaluation system development, as well as talent and academic exchanges.
Under the agreement, the two parties will initially focus on a primary series of joint research projects centered on maternal and paediatric medical imaging AI, specialized model training, computer-aided diagnosis, and clinical validation. In compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, the partnership will also explore innovative application models to support the broader medical and healthcare development across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Prof. Tak Yeung Leung remarked, “The significance of this partnership extends far beyond a formal agreement; it establishes a long-term, stable collaborative framework that effectively aligns clinical needs with cutting-edge AI technology. Through our close collaboration with Diagens, and while upholding the highest standards of data security and ethical compliance, we aim to transform scientific research into practical, real-world capabilities that address the clinical needs of maternal and paediatric health in the Greater Bay Area.”
Dr. Song Ning stated, “CUHK is a world-class research university distinguished by its profound clinical expertise and academic leadership in the medical field. For Diagens, this collaboration represents a major milestone in advancing our medical imaging foundation models from the R&D stage to high-level clinical application. We look forward to joining forces to pioneer a sustainable pathway from scientific research to clinical translation.”
